My Mad Fat Diary regular Dan Cohen and new addition Faye Marsay reveal what’s in store for Rae Earl (Sharon Rooney) and the gang in the last-ever (sob!) series of the cult classic set in 1990s Lincolnshire…

Dan, who plays Archie, told What's on TV: “All the stuff you discovered about the characters in the last two series finds resolution in the last three episodes.” "]

He added: “It’s the last series, definitely. There’s a little leap in time and we pick up two years after series two.”

Faye Marsay plays newcomer Katie Springer, who forms a strong bond with protagonist Rae Earl from the start of the three-part finale.

She explains: “Rae bumps into Katie when she goes to Bristol university.

“In the beginning Rae looks up to Katie, who presents a strong sorted person, but actually that unravels... They have an interesting relationship.”

Faye, who also recently starred in Game of Thrones, added: “I’m a massive [My Mad Fat Diary] fan. I felt like I’d won a competition to visit the set and the actors on my first day!”

My Mad Fat Diary is on C4 on Monday, June 22.
