Dawn French marries in secret ceremony

Comedienne Dawn French has married her boyfriend Mark Bignell in a secret seaside ceremony.

The 55-year-old comedy partner of Jennifer Saunders - who was previously married to Lenny Henry for 25 years - wed Mark, who is six years her junior, following a 16-month relationship.

And according to the Sunday Mirror celebrity guests at the ceremony - which took place in the seaside town of Fowey, near St Austell - included singer Alison Moyet, writer Richard Curtis and actress Kathy Burke, as well as Saunders.

"It was an incredible wedding and Dawn looked beautiful and didn't stop smiling all day," a source told the paper.

"There was a lovely ceremony at a hotel overlooking the sea and later people watched the sun go down as they enjoyed the first drinks of the evening.

"The weather was unbelievable for April," the source added. "It was a perfect day for a perfect couple."

It is the second marriage for Dawn, who previously tied the knot with Lenny Henry in 1984.

The couple, who have an adopted daughter, Billie, divorced in 2010 citing 'unreasonable behaviour'.

Mark, who has had two previous marriages, is the chief executive of Hamoaze House, a charity which helps recovering alcoholics and drug users return to a normal life.

The wedding comes just weeks after Dawn reprised her most famous TV role - as the Vicar of Dibley - for a special Comic Relief episode.

She is also due to head down under this summer to join the judging panel of Australia's Got Talent, having previously dabbled in reallity TV as a judge on the Andrew Lloyd Webber show Superstar.
