Has Jack turned his back on Saint Marie?

Death in Paradise fans will be double celebrating tonight as the BBC revealed that Ardal O’Hanlon will be back as DI Jack Mooney – and there will be at least two more series!

Plus, in another exciting twist, DS Madeline Dumas (played by Aude Legastelois) will also be back as a new series regular following the departure of Josephine Jobert as Florence.

New team: Jack and Madeline will be joining forces for series nine

Talking about joining the show as a regular, Aude said: “I’m thrilled that I’ve been given the opportunity to continue my role as Madeleine and to rejoin the cast of Death in Paradise. I can’t wait for Madeleine to be fully integrated into the Honoré Police team and for the viewers to get to know her further.”

Also back for the next series will be Tobi Bakare (Officer JP Hooper), Shyko Amos (Officer Ruby Patterson), Don Warrington (Commissioner Selwyn Patterson) and Elizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey).

Death in Paradise continues to be a huge hit for the BBC, with the opening episode of the latest series attracting nearly nine million viewers.

So, it’s little surprise that the BBC has ordered not just a ninth but also a tenth series.

Tommy Bulfin, BBC Drama Commissioning Editor said: “We are delighted to announce that Death in Paradise is coming back to BBC1. The show is a jewel in our roster of top drama and we are thrilled that it’s returning.”

The latest series has been one of the most dramatic in the show's history, especially the sad events which led up to Florence deciding she had to leave Saint Marie.

Death in Paradise series nine is likely to be on BBC1 next January. It will once again be filmed on the French-Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
