Before he takes on the role of Doctor Who, actor Matt Smith can be seen playing a detective in Moses Jones. And, as he reveals to whatsontv.co.uk, this cop has his own way of doing things... Matt Smith replaces David Tennant as THE Doctor in 2010, but first he plays cop Dan Twentyman in the BBC's new three-part thriller, in which he helps Moses Jones - played by Shaun Parkes - investigate a murder, which many believe is linked to witchcraft. Matt says of his character: "Dan takes everything in his stride and Moses takes things very seriously, so their energies, when they're together, are quite combative." Indeed, this is something that Shaun can confirm: "The two of them have different ways of doing things," he says. Both Moses and Dan go deep into the heart of London's Ugandan community to find answers. But some people don't want to get involved - not least Dolly, played by Rome actress Indira Varma. "Because she has an income, a passport and a visa, she doesn't have immigrant status, she's a bit of a mother figure," says Indira. "But she's sucked into this thing she doesn't want to be involved in because it's bringing back horrors from her past." Part one of Moses Jones can be seen on Monday February 2 at 9pm on BBC2.
