Ed Sheeran plays matchmaker to Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol guitarist

Ed Sheeran has revealed he introduced Courteney Cox to her new boyfriend Johnny McDaid.

The Give Me Love singer and the Cougar Town actress are friends, so Ed decided to play matchmaker and set her up on a date with his housemate, Johnny, of Snow Patrol.

Ed told OMG! Insider: "I wasn't allowed to talk about this, actually, but it's just gone public so... My housemate who I've lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney Cox. They started dating and [are] crazy about each other."

The singer explained that he and Friends actress Courteney got friendly when he stayed at her beach house.

"I ended up spending a lot of time living in her beach house and therefore bumping into all these random people. We spent Thanksgiving eve at Jennifer Aniston's before spending the day at Courteney's," said the 22-year-old.

Courteney, 49, had been rumoured to be dating Johnny, but has not confirmed they are an item.

The actress married actor David Arquette in 1999, but they split in 2010.
