Fergie to live in a B&B for ITV show on obesity

The Duchess of York is to visit one of Britain's most deprived areas for a new ITV1 show looking at obesity. In the two-part series, provisionally titled The Duchess In Hull, Sarah Ferguson will move into a bed and breakfast on the edge of a Hull council estate to see what life is like for an obese family. Sarah, who has been associated with Weight Watchers for 11 years, hopes to find out what facilities are available to tackle obesity nationwide. She will draw on her experiences of eating disorders, low self esteem, family conflict, financial crisis, divorce and bereavement to help the family improve their lifestyle. Sarah said: "This programme is an attempt to explore solutions to the growing obesity problem in the UK. "I want to see whether we can help families all over the country, no matter what their budget, to improve their lifestyles through using what is already available to them in their community." Layla Smith, ITV's controller of alternative programmes, said: "We're delighted that The Duchess of York has agreed to highlight obesity. "Viewers will be told exactly what facilities are available for them country wide to tackle this issue head on."
