Sky Atlantic is to premiere the seventh and final series of multi-awarding winning 1960s drama Mad Men on April 16 - just three days after it goes out in America.
The final series of the show, which began in 2007, will consist of 14 episodes. The first seven episodes, called The Beginning, will be shown this year, while the remaining seven, called The End of an Era, will go out in spring 2015.
At the end of the last series, the life of advertising genius Don Draper (Jon Hamm) was spiralling out of control. He let down his actress wife Megan (Jessica Pare) by changing his mind about moving to LA and was ordered by his bosses to take an extended leave of absence after revealing too much about the sordid circumstances of his upbringing to a stunned client.
Mad Men's creator and executive producer Matthew Weiner says of the final series: "We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience.”
