Take a first look at Mr Turner star Timothy Spall and Ripper Street’s Matthew Macfadyen starring as real-life paranormal investigators in Sky Living’s three-part drama The Enfield Haunting, which is based on spooky real-life events in 1977.

Starting on May 3, the series follows the weird supernatural happenings in a north London council house which cause traumas for the desperate family of single mum Peggy Hodgson (Rosie Cavaliero).

Matthew is paranormal expert Guy Lyon Playfair, on whose book the drama is based. Guy arrives in Enfield after amateur paranormal investigator Maurice Grosse (Tim Spall) contacts him about the poltergeist activity in Peggy’s home, felt particularly strongly by her 11-year-old daughter Janet (newcomer Eleanor Worthington-Cox).

Juliet Stevenson plays Maurice's wife, who is struggling to come to terms with his obsession with the Enfield investigation.

Nicholas Cannon
TV Content Director on TV Times, What's On TV and TV & Satellite Week

I'm a huge fan of TV so I've found the perfect job, writing about telly shows and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 30 years. I'm currently the TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus contribute to Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas, Tenko and I'm quite partial to a bit of Little House on The Prairie. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too, and love newer shows such as The Day Of The Jackal, This is Us, Hacks and anything Dexter.
