1 A Very English Scandal BBC1 (due to air next year) - starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw!
Here’s the first snap of Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw in BBC1’s much-anticipated new three-part drama A Very English Scandal, written by Russell T Davies. Hugh, returning to British TV screens for the first time since the early 1990s, plays disgraced MP Jeremy Thorpe, who in 1979 was tried but acquitted of conspiring to murder his ex-lover Norman Scott (Ben).
2 Vanity Fair ITV (due to air next year) - featuring Suranne Jones
Filming has begun on location in Budapest and the UK for this lavish adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray’s classic novel. Set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, the seven-parter sees rising Hollywood star Olivia Cooke play leading lady Becky Sharp, and the all-star cast list also includes Martin Clunes, Suranne Jones, Frances de la Tour, Claire Skinner and Michael Palin.
3 Eric, Ernie & Me BBC4 (due to air later this year) - starring Stephen Tompkinson
Stephen Tompkinson, Line of Duty’s Mark Bonnar and Humans actor Neil Maskell star in this one-off biopic about comedy writer Eddie Braben. Stephen plays Eddie as he sets about turning comedy double act Eric Morecambe (Mark) and Ernie Wise (Neil) into much-loved icons.
4 The Woman in White BBC1 (due to air next year) - starring Ben Hardy
Former EastEnder turned Hollywood star Ben Hardy joins The Last Post’s Jessie Buckley in this adaptation of Wilkie Collins’ chilling novel. The five-part period drama, filmed around Belfast, sees Ben play Walter Hartright, who encounters a ghostly woman and soon finds himself drawn into a mysterious world…
5 Bodyguard BBC1 (due to air next year) - starring Keeley Hawes
Keeley Hawes teams up again with Line of Duty writer Jed Mercurio for this six-part political thriller. Set in and around the corridors of power, it tells the fictional story of a heroic war veteran (Game of Thrones star Richard Madden) who is assigned to protect ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley). But after they clash over politics, is Julia’s guard actually her biggest threat?
