Gary Lineker and wife Danielle remain 'greatest of friends' despite divorce proceedings

The Sun said the ex-England footballer, 55, and the 36-year-old model had decided to end their six-year marriage and a decree nisi would be issued.

A spokesman for the couple told the paper: “Gary and Danielle have decided to end their marriage.”

He added: “They remain the greatest of friends and wish each other every happiness.”

The paper quoted a source as saying the break-up was 'friendly' and the pair filled out forms on a Government website together.

The couple wed in Ravello, Italy, in 2009 after dating for two years.

It was Gary’s second marriage – he was divorced in 2006 from Michelle, the mother of his four sons, after 20 years – and Danielle’s first.

Danielle, who uses her maiden name Bux in her Instagram profile, is a former Virgin Atlantic air stewardess who has become a successful lingerie model.

She took part in television cooking show Hell’s Kitchen and has also appeared as a panellist on lunchtime chat show Loose Women.
