The Bill's Gary Lucy is going up in the world - as his character in the show joins the team in CID. Next month, viewers will see reliable Pc Will Fletcher ditch his uniform as he transfers to CID for a three-month trial. After an impressive performance at Sun Hill, Will is invited to start a placement in CID, where he gets to work on a suspected rape and assault case under the guidance of DC Terry Perkins, played by Bruce Byron. Former Hollyoaks' star Gary, who joined The Bill in December 2005, said: "I'm thrilled that Will has been given the opportunity to join CID. "It's where he has always wanted to be and he makes every effort to impress the team. Let's just hope it works out." Will has not always had an easy time during the show, after getting involved in disastrous relationships with Pcs Honey Harman and Emma Keane, and struggling with his conscience when colleague Pc Dan Casper was abusing steroids. He added: "Moving over to CID is a chance to put all that behind him - and he can't be faulted for his eagerness!" Gary's first episode in CID will air on ITV1 on Wednesday August 6.
