US comedian Kathy Griffin has revealed she finds it 'bizarre' that David Gest is famous enough in the UK to have his own TV show. The 46-year-old, whose own reality show, Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List, screens in Britain next month, added that in America David is seen as a 'joke'. "I'm fascinated that here the Big Brother contestants are gigantic stars and I think it's really bizarre that David Gest has a television show," she said. Kathy said that Americans see David as 'a joke who made up crazy stories about Liza Minnelli beating him up. "I'm pretty sure she didn't," she added. "I mean I wasn't there, but I find it hard to believe." But she had praise for some stars who become famous from reality TV - including Sharon Osbourne. "A lot of my actor friends think it's really disgusting that reality people become stars sometimes, but the truth is, Sharon Osbourne is as funny and clever as any television sitcom actress. "So sometimes you have a reality person who really is clever and compelling and I don't mind that." Kathy's praise has come a little too late to save Sharon Osbourne's ITV1 chatshow. It's just been canned, in deference to Dale Winton and Supermarket Sweep.
