Idris Elba to mentor aspiring stars on Sky 1 talent search

Idris Elba will be a judge on Sky 1's new talent search, which has the working title Launching People.

The series, which will screen in the spring, will see the Luther actor as one of four mentors searching for aspiring new stars in the fields of food, film making, music and photography.

Singer Paloma Faith, photographer Rankin and cook Gizzi Erskine will also be on the panel and the series will follow them as they each work with their chosen candidate to help them launch their special project.

Idris, who will oversee the film category, said: “I’m looking for someone that wants to tell a story and inspire others. They might have an idea that they’re not quite sure how to take to the next level. If I represent anything, it’s someone who dreamed big and achieved those dreams. If anyone out there has a similar aspiration, then I want to hear from them.”

If you have a project that you think will fit the bill, make a two-minute video pitch and launch it via www.launchingpeople.co.uk between now and Thursday, March 6.
