ITV plans to shut all seven of its channels over the Bank Holiday weekend…
DON’T PANIC but… in an unprecedented move ITV have decided to switch off all seven of their channels for an hour over the coming Bank Holiday weekend.
The television company has taken the bold decision to stop broadcasting from 9.30am to 10.30am on 27 August as part of I Am Team GB, a National Lottery organised event.
In turning off the telly, the hope is people will be encouraged to get out and try new sporting activities, as thousands of sports clubs across the country open their doors for free events.
Greg Rutherford, who took a bronze medal home from Rio for his long jumping skills, is taking part and said: “You don’t have to be an Olympian to be part of Team GB. National Lottery players make a huge difference through the support they give athletes and on the August bank holiday weekend there is an amazing chance to be part of it.”
ITV is also hosting supporting events on its Emmerdale and Coronation Street sets.
Hopefully, Murder She Wrote fans won’t be up in arms at the hour-long broadcasting ban during the murder mystery show’s usual timeslot. Somehow, we think super sleuth Jessica Fletcher would approve of ITV’s decision and go for a bike ride around Cabot Cove!
