Jack has to head home...

Death in Paradise could see yet another favourite leave tonight as DI Jack Mooney is forced to leave Saint Marie in a dramatic twist in the final episode of the current series.

Fans are still reeling from the departures of Florence and Dwayne, and now it looks like Jack (Ardal O’Hanlon) could be off too!

The BBC1 hit opens with Jack and his team having another tricky case on their plate when a tourist is discovered dead in their police station. Now, that’s got to be pretty awkward for a cop trying to explain how someone could get killed in their office. What will the dreaded Commissioner think of that one?!

But while Jack’s usually completely dedicated to his cases, his mind wanders when his beloved daughter Siobhan calls him in floods of tears after splitting up with her boyfriend.

Widower Jack has always been really worried about his daughter and he decides he has to head home to check she’s OK. Jack asks the Commissioner for some compassionate leave…

Does this mean he’s leaving the island for good? He already had a nasty experience during the last episode when he was under investigation by Madeline over Florence being shot. Is this now the final straw for Jack? After all, with Florence and Dwayne gone there’s not that much keeping him on Saint Marie.

Madeline, meanwhile, is still on Saint Marie, having finally been convinced at the end of the last episode that Jack was in fact a genius crime solver.

And she soon finds herself roped into trying to crack the case. Will Madeline decide that she rather likes life on Saint Marie? Or, will she head back to Paris?

The final episode of the current series of Death in Paradise is on BBC1 tonight at 9pm.
