James Corden wants one final Gavin and Stacey episode

James Corden said he would 'love' to reprise the role of Smithy on Gavin and Stacey one last time.

The Late Late Show host recently returned as Gavin’s loud-mouthed best mate for a Sport Relief sketch and he’d like to write another special with Ruth Jones, who played Nessa.

He told the Daily Star: “I’d love to do another Gavin & Stacey special. It’s just finding the time. My favourite was the last Christmas special.

“Writing that with Ruth for two weeks was just brilliant, so I’d love to do another one.

“Watch this space.”

The show ran for three series from 2007 to 2010, so their baby Neil would be a young lad now.

In the new iPlayer sketch, Smithy campaigns for election to replace Sepp Blatter as Fifa president.

It sees him bring on big names in the sporting world from Jose Mourinho as his campaign manager to Steven Gerrard and Sir Geoff Hurst as office lackeys.

He gets the backing of footballing legend Pele, who says: “I will not be running for the position of Fifa president because there’s a better man for the job. A man who understands football like no one else, a man who lives and breathes the beautiful game.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I give you my choice to be the next president of Fifa: Neil Smith. Or, as he is known around the world, Smithy.”

Jose supports Smithy as the 'new special one'.

He says: “Winston Churchill; Mahatma Gandhi; Nelson Mandela. Three of the most inspirational leaders of our time – but I don’t think any of them could save football like Neil Smith.

“Please, Vote Smithy for president, and make him the new ‘special one’.”

Sport Relief night returns to TV on Friday, March 18 at 7pm.
