A spokeswoman apologised to fans in a Facebook post, citing a 'family emergency'.

The comic’s daughter is now 'totally fine' after a 'bit of a scare', Jason later wrote on Facebook.

He apologised to ticket holders, explaining: “Really sorry to the people who were coming to my gig in Middleton tonight, my daughter had a nasty head injury at her Aerial Dance class and I had to rush her to A&E.

“I didn’t know how serious it was or how long it would take, or even if I’d be in the right headspace to do a gig so I thought it was best to just cancel.

“As for my daughter, she is totally fine, bit of a scare for me and the staff at Stepping Hill (Hospital), as always, were wonderful.”

The 35-year-old, who has four daughters and one son, reassured fans that he would make it up to them and that they would be able to get their money back.

“I will look at the diary for a possible replacement date, but in the meantime please contact Box office who will reimburse tickets,” he wrote.

“Thanks for being so understanding, you know I would never do it if it wasn’t a genuine emergency.”
