Jasper Carrott cancels all engagements in 2017 as he undergoes heart surgery
Brummie comedian Jasper Carrott has undergone surgery to prepare for a heart bypass operation
Comedian Jasper Carrott is in hospital recovering from an operation ahead of a heart bypass, a spokesman for the star has said.
The 72-year-old TV personality recently postponed a string of shows to allow him time to recover from the surgery.
His manager Steve Hutt told the Press Association: “He is currently in hospital recovering from a preliminary operation pending his bypass which is scheduled for mid August.”
He added: “He will not be undertaking any professional commitments for the remainder of the year.
“All his shows for 2017 have, wherever possible, been rescheduled for 2018.”
Carrott announced he needed the surgery in a Facebook post in July when he wrote: “Sadly, I have been told very recently that I need a heart bypass operation.

“I was hoping that the operation would take place in August allowing me to fulfil my shows this month, but unfortunately it must now be done immediately.
“There will then follow a three-month recovery period after which I anticipate being able to return to work as normal.
“Unfortunately this affects a number of shows which unavoidably must be postponed until at least early spring next year.
“My sincere apologies to all the theatre-goers who have bought tickets to my shows, but I know you will understand that my health comes before anything and I will do my level best to get back in action as soon as possible.
“Thank you for your understanding and again my apologies for the disruption and inconvenience to everyone concerned.”
