SPOILER ALERT - DON'T READ ON UNLESS YOU'VE WATCHED THE FINAL EPISODE! Ioan Gruffudd on the second series...

Liar star Ioan Gruffudd has revealed his thoughts on the second series of Liar - don't read on unless you've seen the final episode! ITV has confirmed Liar will return for a second series.

In one of the year’s most shocking TV finales, Liar ended with serial rapist Andrew Earlham lying dead in the marshes. But who was responsible?

Ioan, who played the creepy surgeon, has an intriguing plot proposal…

"We could tell the story in flashback, presenting how he died," said Ioan, 44, in an exclusive interview with TV Times. "It’d be tricky to keep the tension over six episodes but then you could make it a whodunit because there are several characters with enough reason to kill him."

Ioan also has his own ingenious theory about Andrew’s death.

"Andrew made his wife Mary kill herself," he said. "So I wonder whether there would be a satisfying ending if Laura [Joanne Froggatt’s character, who was raped by Andrew] didn’t physically kill Andrew but had somehow got him to take his own life…"
