'We want to create lots of incredible groups who really gel'
Little Mix – formed on The X Factor – are getting their own music reality show for BBC1.
It was reported recently that the band could be fronting a new entertainment series next year and Little Mix, along with the Beeb, have now confirmed the news.
Little Mix The Search is billed by the BBC as a seven-part show which will see them search for “incredibly talented singers to become members of all-female, all-male or mixed bands”.
And the Beeb teased that the singers who make it into the bands will get access to the group’s vocal coaches, song writers and stylists.
Little Mix, aka Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, said: “We want to create lots of incredible groups who really gel. As we have been there and done it ourselves, we know what it takes to make a group successful, and will be there to mentor them every step of the way.
“We want solo artists to audition as well as groups and every type of genre is welcome too. It's going to be really exciting and people can apply right now!”
Charlotte Moore, Director BBC Content added: “One of Britain’s most popular all-female bands Little Mix will bring their magic to BBC1 on Saturday nights in 2020 in a brand new show set to inspire the next generation of young artists.”
Little Mix became the first group to win the X Factor when they were crowned champions on the ITV show back in 2011. The BBC said it will announce more details in "due course". Budding artists can visit bbc.co.uk/littlemixthesearch for more details on how to apply.
The series will be screened next year.
