Max George has become the first contestant to be eliminated from the ITV survival show Bear Grylls: Mission Survive. Given the challenge that they all faced in last night’s programme, we wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other celebrities taking part were wishing they had been given the boot, too.

The series sees survival expert Bear Grylls taking a group of celebrities on 12-day journey into the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforest, where their ability to survive is put to the test with a series of tough challenges. But their latest task really did take the proverbial when the stars had to drink their own wee!

Loose Women’s Jamelia, model Vogue Williams, Silent Witness actress Emilia Fox and Lewis star Laurence Fox retched repeatedly during the task, while Friday Night Dinner star Tom Rosenthal finished guzzling his first and said it " tasted quite nice, like tea".

‘It’s mind over matter,’ Bear told the celebs during the task. ‘Imagine it’s just a weird tasting drink in a bar.’

Later, during elimination, Max – who had managed to complete the task – was sent packing by Bear and his fellow teammates.

Speaking about the elimination, Bear said: "I don’t believe he had much more to give."

"It was almost for his own safety as well as the journey was going to get tougher."

Max, from boy band The Wanted,   took the decision in his stride as he praised his fellow contestants on Twitter.

He wrote: "Good luck to all the wonderful people still in there! You're all amazing!"

There are currently seven celebrities still remaining on the survival show, which continues next week with another contestant being given their marching orders.

Bear Grylls: Mission Survive is on Fridays at 9.00pm.
