Neil Morrissey 'can't wait' to to start filming Grantchester

Neil Morrissey is joining the cast of ITV’s period crime drama Grantchester.

The Men Behaving Badly star will play grieving father Harding Redmond, whose teenage daughter is found dead in suspicious circumstances in the show – and soon lashes out at clergyman Sidney Chambers (James Norton), accusing him of having an inappropriate relationship with her.

The 53-year-old actor, best known for starring alongside Martin Clunes in Men Behaving Badly and voicing Bob The Builder in the animated children’s TV series, has already been photographed filming episodes for the show’s second series alongside James and Robson Green, who star as crime-fighting duo vicar Sidney and police inspector Geordie Keating respectively.

“I’m really excited to be joining the cast of Grantchester. It’s great to work with James Norton, Robson Green and the rest of the cast, and I can’t wait to film in the actual village of Grantchester, which I know is beautiful,” he said.

“I’m also happy to be sporting a funky Fifties moustache, my first foray into top-lip decoration since I started acting.”
