Nigella Lawson returns to BBC2 with cookery to 'de-stress' you

Nigella Lawson will be returning to the kitchen in a new BBC2 cookery series featuring a 'pared down' philosophy and light, stress-free food.

Simply Nigella will be the chef's first TV series since 2012 and follows a tumultuous few years in her personal life and a difficult foray into American television.

Nigella spoke about her new series at an industry event in which BBC2 unveiled a host of new shows.

“It’s about food that makes our life easier, that makes us feel better, more alive and less stressed," she said. " I want to showcase healthy everyday breakfasts and substantial weekend brunches ... quick-to-make and lighter suppers that de-stress."

Nigella went on to speak about how much she enjoys 'bowl food'.

"I honestly believe I'm at my happiest when I'm eating food out of a bowl with a spoon. No cutting needed," she explained. "For me that sums up so much, comfort food doesn't have to be heavy, sometimes you do want something luscious and light."

The news will be welcomed by fans of Nigella, who's had a difficult few years following a divorce from Charles Saatchi and the very public court case in which she was required to lay bare details of her marriage and confront allegations of past drug use.

Simply Nigella will screen on BBC2 later this year.
