Which Bodyguard star will scoop the prize as the NTAs nomineees list is at last revealed..? Or might someone else claim the gong?

Celebrate amazing television talent as The National Television Awards are back on ITV on January 22nd hosted by Dermot O’Leary live from London’s O2.

A brand new category arrives this year for New Drama and this sees Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw’s A Very English Scandal (pictured below), which followed the secret gay life of Jeremy Thorpe MP, taking on Bodyguard, Killing Eve, The Split and Vanity Fair among others.

The soaps are always a strong category. Will those heartfelt performances by Bonnie Langford and Davood Ghadami (aka Carmel and Kush Kazemi) help EastEnders to success for its moving and upsetting knife-crime story which saw the murder of young Shakhil. Or could David Platt's's attack by Josh Tucker and the McDonalds' wedding shenanigans give Corrie the edge?

Then there's Ross Barton's horrendous acid attack that could help Emmerdale top the poll...

We all love to laugh but Peter Kay’s Car Share came to a poignant end, but there are other strong contenders for the Comedy award, too, including Mrs Brown’s Boys. And there’s a big cookery showdown for Factual Entertainment Series where it’s The Great British Bake Off versus Masterchef.

If you want to see the NTAS for yourself you can be there at the O2 on the night by getting tickets at www.nationaltvawards.com also vote for your TV favourites free online or call 0844 646 2060 for a voting form (calls cost 5p plus your network access charge).

Voting closes at 11pm on October 26th.

Nicholas Cannon
TV Content Director on TV Times, What's On TV and TV & Satellite Week

I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
