Peter Kay will host this year's Royal Variety Performance – which will also feature appearances from X Factor’s Alexandra Burke and Britain's Got Talent's Diversity. The spectacular will take place in Blackpool - 'the home of British variety' - for the first time since 1955, at the town's Opera House. Hollywood stars Bette Midler and Whoopi Goldberg, teen star Miley Cyrus, classical singer Katherine Jenkins and the cast of West End production Sister Act will also be performing. Peter will also be joined by his great pal Paddy McGuinness and comedian Jason Manford for the performance in front of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Laurie Mansfield, life president of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund which the night is in aid of, said: "Blackpool was the location of the first Royal Variety Performance outside London in 1955 and we are delighted to be returning there, the home of British variety." It will take place on December 7 and be screened on ITV1 later that month.
