Opera singer Russell Watson has been moved out of intensive care and his recovery from a second operation on a brain tumour is 'progressing well'. The 40-year-old is still under constant supervision following life-saving surgery at the private Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, Cheshire. The father-of-two was first struck down with a brain tumour last year while in America. He made a full recovery from an operation, but it emerged the tumour had regrown when he fell ill in a recording studio last week and he underwent a three-hour operation on Thursday. Several family members, including his daughters Hannah, eight, and Rebecca, 12, visited him over the weekend and he was moved out of intensive care on Sunday. Michael Stroud, executive director of the Alexandra Hospital, said: "Russell Watson had a comfortable weekend and is progressing well. He has been moved out of our intensive care suite and is now in a private room, but is still under constant supervision. "It is too early to say when he will be discharged or what the recovery period will involve. For now he will continue to be monitored very closely. "Once again on behalf of Russell we would like to thank fans for the overwhelming support and constant stream of gifts and messages." The popular tenor was putting the finishing touches to his latest album on Tuesday when he began to feel unwell with a headache and loss of vision. He was taken to hospital for an MRI scan which showed the tumour had regrown.
