Colin Salmon says his TV role in Some Girls is the first that he really identifies with. The actor, 49, who was recently voted off Strictly Come Dancing, plays a fireman and father, Rob, in the BBC Three comedy. "In the past I've always played neutered, sexless men who carry guns," the former Bond actor said. "Casting directors always say, 'You look great in a suit' but I can wear other things too! "So it was fun to play Rob as he's closer to me. Like him, I have offspring, and I'm a bit cheeky," said the father of four. The comedy also stars Skins actress Adelayo Adedayo as his daughter. Colin said of the characters, who include a boy obsessed with his own genitals and a spliff-smoking teenage mother: "Everyone is kind in this, even if they've got an edge," he says of the characters. "The world looks down at certain people and there are judgments being made, but I grew up on a council estate and I think, 'We were so lovely, we were just challenged'." :: Some Girls continues on BBC Three on Tuesdays.
