Spice Girl Mel B secretly married boyfriend Stephen Belafonte in Las Vegas two months ago, her spokeswoman confirmed today. The couple appeared to become romantically involved following the popstar's sudden and bitter split with Hollywood comedian Eddie Murphy. But it emerged today that Mel B, also known as Scary Spice, and film producer Stephen have actually been married for two months. Mel B's spokeswoman released a statement saying: "Melanie Brown confirmed today that she and long-term friend Stephen Belafonte were married at the Special Memory Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, June 6, 2007." The couple, who are both 32, wanted to keep the ceremony out of the public eye as they planned a more formal wedding for friends and family later in the year. "Melanie and Stephen felt that they were at a good point in their lives and wanted to make a private commitment to each other." Mel B has been making headlines this summer for both professional and personal reasons. Her successful pop group, the Spice Girls, reformed last month. The singer also recently took legal action against ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy to establish that he was the father of their four-month-old daughter, Angel Iris.
