The Bill's Ben Richards has admitted his character Pc Nate Roberts has gone through a change over the last couple of years. "I think he's realised that things aren't as black and white as they seem," Ben said of Nate, who will soon become embroiled in an arson attack at school. He continued: "There's different shades of grey with life. Working on the job he's learning more and more, especially working at Sun Hill where everything kicks off on a regular basis. He's learning to maybe think twice before making a judgement." Ben also explained why he thinks the ITV1 police drama has been so popular for the last 25 years. "It's the format," he explained. "A cop show from the perspective of the copper; the strong way it's been put together; the high standard of what they want to achieve. We've got a great crew here and good writing." Ben, who also starred in Footballers' Wives and Holby City, is contracted to stay with The Bill until January 2010. But if he doesn't return as Nate after that he'd be more than happy to try his luck in the States. He enthused: "A big Hollywood movie would be fantastic to do.
