The Fall’s Jamie Dornan: 'Playing a serial killer is probably doing me damage, but I absolutely love it!'

BBC2’s disturbing serial killer drama The Fall was a surprise hit in 2013, but its star Jamie Dornan said he loves entering the headspace of a serial killer.

Jamie told What's on TV: “I’ve read the breakdown for the second series and its mind-blowingly brilliant!”

Jamie said that, despite the dark nature of the role, he had no reservation about stepping back into the mindset of a killer: “I love it! It’s not easy being in that headspace for that amount of time and it’s probably doing long-term damage! But I absolutely love being there – I don’t know what that says about me!”

He added a second series was always the producers' intention: “It was always the plan and hope – and maybe more than that. Certainly I talked a lot to the writer and producer Allan Cubitt about the idea of another season. But it was very satisfying that after the second episode aired they commissioned another one."

The second series of The Fall is currently being filmed in Jamie’s native Northern Ireland, while the former model’s portrayal of Fifty Shades of Grey’s Christian Grey is set to make him one of the hottest men in Hollywood on it’s release in early 2015.

Meanwhile, C4’s four-part drama New Worlds gets underway on Tuesday at 9pm, and you can read star Jamie's take on that here.
