The Missing creators to make Scottish thriller One Of Us for BBC1

Truly, Madly, Deeply’s Juliet Stevenson is to head up new BBC One drama One Of Us.

The respected British actress was Bafta-nominated for her role in hard-hitting Jimmy McGovern drama Accused, and has more recently starred in The Village, Atlantis and The Enfield Haunting.

The new four-part series is set in Edinburgh and the Highlands and revolves around the Elliot and Douglas families. When two of the family members are murdered, relationships between – and within – the grieving clans are tested to the limit. Wounds are reopened, secrets are revealed and the consequences prove devastating.

Written by Harry and Jack Williams, the team behind hit series The Missing, the show’s impressive line-up also includes Breaking Bad’s Laura Fraser, comedian and actor Adrian Edmondson, The Fall’s John Lynch, The Paradise’s Joanna Vanderham, Game of Thrones’ Kate Dickie and Joe Dempsie and Murdered By My Boyfriend Bafta-winner Georgina Campbell.

Juliet said: “I’m thrilled to be playing Louise in One Of Us as she is such an intriguing character. When I read the first script it immediately gripped me as it’s such a unique and compelling story, I can’t wait to start filming in Scotland.”

The Williams brothers, who are hoping to emulate The Missing’s success, said: “One Of Us is a thriller, but also at heart a character piece. So it’s wonderful to have such a talented cast. We can’t wait to see how they bring it to life.”

Filming is set to commence on Monday.
