The Railway Children, and great lines from movies

Couch Potato Pickings

Whenever I see that a screen adaptation of E Nesbit's Railway Children is showing on TV (and let's face it, today's film and the 2000 TV remake are on a lot), I just can't resist screaming out that emotional line. If you know the story, you'll know exactly which scene I mean.

I don't know about you, but for me there are a number of well-known movie lines that always open the floodgates of emotion for me, and some that also make me groan. Here's a few off the top of my head:

You had me at "hello".

Daddy, My Daddy!

You needn't worry about them. They'll be alright, and thousands like them. If you come along, I'll show you what I mean.

You see. That is just like you, Harry. You say things like that, and you make it impossible for me to hate you, and I hate you, Harry. I really hate you. I hate you.

Now I know I've got a heart, because it's breaking.

Cat! Cat! Oh, Cat... ohh...

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

God bless us, every one.

B. Good.

I am not an animal! I am a human being! I...am...a...man!

I promise - I'll come back for you. I promise - I'll never leave you.

... by believing, Peter. Just believe.

Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed.

After all, tomorrow is another day.

The Railway Children is showing today, Sunday 22nd November, on ITV3 at 4pm
