The X Factor auditions: ‘Everything about you I love,’ Simon Cowell tells Kiera Weather

Barmaid Kiera Weathers (opens in new tab), 18, had X Factor judges Simon Cowell (opens in new tab) and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (opens in new tab) desperate to mentor her after her performance on Sunday night’s auditions.
“You have star quality and I want to mentor you,” Cheryl told Kiera, after she sang Ella Eyre’s We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off.
“Just so you have a bit of choice, I would also like to mentor you,” Simon added. “Everything about you I absolutely love.”
But, as the judges’ categories have since been decided, we know it will be Rita Ora (opens in new tab) mentoring Kiera if she gets past Boot Camp (Cheryl’s got the groups) - and Rita wasn’t even present for Kiera’s audition (she had a performance of her own to get to).
Simon is mentoring the Overs and he got a surprise in that category in Sunday’s auditions: Neneth Lyons (opens in new tab).
While Kiera is everything the X Factor wants in a contestant, Neneth, 36, isn’t.
Neneth sang Somewhere from the musical West Side Story…
“And when the song started, I thought ‘maybe this is a bit dated’,” Simon told Neneth. “But then I thought, ‘Who cares?’. You are a brilliant singer. And I think people are going to like you - a lot.”
“You came alive during that performance. It was amazing,” added Nick Grimshaw (opens in new tab).
Brodie Kelly, Ben Clark and Joe Waller (opens in new tab) all felt the full force of Rita’s flirtatiousness and even Parisienne Calypso (opens in new tab) Larrazet was told, “I love that you’re French. It’s sexy”.

The X Factor (opens in new tab) continues on ITV, Saturday, September 19, 8.00pm.
