Timothy Spall joins cast of Sky Living's spooky The Enfield Haunting

Timothy Spall has signed up for new supernatural drama series The Enfield Haunting.

The programme is based on Guy Lyon Playfair's book, This House Is Haunted, which he wrote after researching claims of poltergeist activity in a house in Enfield in 1977.

Timothy will play a rookie paranormal researcher who is investigating the strange goings on, reported RadioTimes.com.

The Blandings actor said he was thrilled to be part of the Sky Living drama, adding: "Not only is it based on a supernatural happening, it is also a brilliant script that is full of emotional texture and develops beautifully into a human story."

Matthew Macfadyen and Juliet Stevenson will also star in the three-part drama, with Matthew playing author Guy Lyon Playfair and Juliet as the wife of Timothy's character.

The Enfield Haunting will be directed by The Killing's Kristoffer Nyholm.

It's expected to be broadcast on next year.
