TV Times top picks for today

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Friday 20th July

Celebrity 5 Go Caravanning, 8pm, Channel 5

The fabulous five are back in their mobile homes for a jaunt to wonderful Yorkshire. They begin in Askrigg, best known as All Creatures Great and Small country, where a local shepherdess gives them an insight into life in the glorious dales. There’s also time to fit in a visit to a Georgian Theatre in Richmond, a retro journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and some culinary treats in the form of curd tarts and Whitby fish and chips. But a boy-girl divide develops when the gang head to the Esk Valley where they have to spend the night in a vintage caravan. While the lads appear to be game, the ladies are less than impressed by the prospect of a composting toilet. Perhaps a hotel might be more to their liking! Rating: ****

Jane McDonald & Friends, 9pm, Channel 5

Jane may well be flying the flag for women in their fifties, but the singer, 55, has the energy of someone in her twenties! This week she continues to sing classic hits, thrill audiences with prize giveaways and chat to this week’s guests: music legend Billy Ocean, West End star Ria Jones and BGT singers Jack Pack. Rating: ****

Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, 9pm, Sky One

That ‘lucky’ bracelet is still not bringing poor DI Harry Clayton (James Nesbitt) a great deal of good fortune as the third series of the fantasy crime drama begins. Harry heads to Hong Kong on the trail of Eve (Sienna Guillory) who has been accused of murder, but he soon finds himself accused of being a killer. As he goes on the run and finally learns more about the strange origins of the bracelets, it soon becomes clear that someone else has them in their sights as well – mysterious and utterly ruthless Samuel Blake (Rupert Penry-Jones having a whale of a time in villain mode!). But will Harry be able to get the upper hand when he’s faced with his most sinister adversary to date? Rating: ****

More previews tomorrow.
