What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Monday 12th March

Marcella, 9.00pm, ITV

This entertaining and completely ludicrous series continues with a pacy episode, in which some leads are closed off and tantalising new ones introduced. The opening stages are dominated by convicted paedophile Phil Dawkins, who hatches a twisted plot to get revenge on Marcella, whom he blames for his girlfriend’s miscarriage. Meanwhile, DI Rav Sangha makes a sinister discovery about old Reg Reynolds. Rating: ****

Five Star Hotel, 10.00pm, E4

Reality TV favourite Joey Essex joins Made in Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews, TOWIE’s Lydia Bright, Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan and Ex on the Beach star Ashley Cain as they are put in charge of a luxury hotel on the Greek island of Ios, where the pressure is on to give guests a five-star experience. In the first episode, Joey is given the lowly job of bellboy and has a shaky start when he manages to get lost showing some guests to their rooms. Spencer, who has hotel experience, lands himself the more prestigious role as Front of House, and Lydia has to cover for Ashley when he doesn’t turn up to his shift on time. We wonder who will get voted Employee of the Season? Continues weeknights. Rating: ****

Jane, 9.00pm, National Geographic

Jane Goodall had no scientific background when she headed for Africa on her own to study the apes. Chimpanzee behaviour was her chosen field, and this profile includes wonderful unseen footage that was shot by a film-maker who was sent by National Geographic to capture young Jane’s ‘natural assets’. The two fell in love and had a son, Grub, together but later separated. The sexist news coverage of Jane’s great adventure is strange to look back on now, but her rise to becoming one of the world’s leading primatologists is a truly inspirational story. Rating: ****
