Innocent, 9pm, ITV
Lee Ingleby and Hermione Norris are two of TV’s most compelling stars and both are on top form in this powerful thriller. Lee plays father-of-two David Collins who is suddenly acquitted of killing his wife Tara after spending seven years in prison. His sister-in-law Alice, played by Hermione, is distraught at the verdict and is now scared that David will fight for custody of his children, who she has been bringing up. But as the original police investigation is re-opened and new enquiries are made into what happened on the night Tara died, shocking secrets are revealed… Thankfully, you don’t have to wait long for the next big reveal as the drama continues nightly until Thursday. Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, 9pm, Lifetime (Sky 164/Virgin 208)
There’s absolutely no escaping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day on 19 May, but why would you want to? Lifetime’s contribution to the royal romance is this original, new TV film starring The Loch’s Murray Fraser as Harry and Jessica Jones’ Parisa Fitz-Henley as Meghan. With a liberal dash of fiction the drama follows the couple from their first blind date and secret romance until Harry popped the question to former Suits star Meghan in November. Can award-winning director Menhaj Huda (Kidulthood, Corrie) bring the couple’s chemistry to life? Rating: ***
Heart Transplant: A Chance to Live, 9pm, BBC2
Every morning 200 British people wake up and wonder if today will be the day they finally get the heart transplant that could save their lives. Yet with demand far outstripping the amount of usable organs available, some won’t survive the wait. This powerful documentary goes behind the scenes at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital to follow a process that can take years and relies on bereaved families donating a loved one’s organs. With plenty of footage from real heart transplant surgeries, this is not for viewers of a nervous disposition. The film meets patients, surgeons and people experimenting with pioneering technology that could change the entire field of organ transplantation. Rating: ****
