TV Times tops picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Monday 15th January

Silent Witness, 9.00pm, BBC1

The team investigates the fatal stabbing of a pregnant woman in this week’s two-parter, which also devotes plenty of attention to their personal lives. Nikki (Emilia Fox) is in therapy in a bid to beat her post-traumatic stress disorder; Jack (David Caves) finds himself working with an attractive sparring partner from his gym; and Thomas (Richard Lintern) is having babysitting problems while his wife is in hospital… The case concludes tomorrow at 9.00pm. Rating: ****

The Wave, 8.00pm, W

The Wave

This Morning host Rylan Clark-Neal and Olympic swimmer Keri-anne Payne hit the beach for a new game show where couples win money by answering questions as they swim through the choppy waters of the Atlantic Ocean. General knowledge and stamina are both important, but with one person in the water and the other on dry land, communication is also a crucial factor. Correct answers will win cash, incorrect ones add weight to the poor soul splashing about in the sea – and if the swimmer doesn’t make it back to the beach in time, no one wins anything at all! Expect plenty of sun, sea and, with the exuberant Rylan at the helm, lots of laughs. Continues weekdays. Rating: ****

Next of Kin, 9.00pm / ITV

As the tense drama continues, London doctor Mona Harcourt (The Good Wife star Archie Panjabi) is desperate to know the truth. She agrees to travel to Lahore, Pakistan, and identify her murdered brother Kareem’s body, although her husband Guy (Jack Davenport) is dead set against the idea. Mona readily agrees, however, as she secretly hopes to make contact with Kareem’s son Danny (Viveik Kalra). Mona’s search for her nephew leads her to a remote part of Lahore, putting her in grave danger. Has Danny been radicalised as British counter-terrorism suspect? Could Mona be walking into a trap? Next of Kin subtly ramps up the tension as the net twists and tightens… Rating: ****
