The Queen’s Coronation in Colour, 9pm, ITV

To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation, Alexander Armstrong looks back at that remarkable occasion. Tuesday 2 June 1953 saw the world’s first major TV event as the young Elizabeth was crowned Queen and the world was allowed to see the flamboyant ceremony inside Westminster Abbey. There are also interviews with some of the people who were there, including the Queen’s maids of honour and her cousin, HRH Prince Michael of Kent. Sir Trevor McDonald, Len Goodman and Alison Steadman share their memories of the day and Alexander meets some of the people who took their own home videos of the street parties that united communities across the land.
