Car Share Unscripted, 10pm, BBC1
At the end of the second series of Car Share last May, Peter Kay announced that there would be no more episodes. But after fans begged him to reconsider, he has thankfully come up with two specials – this week’s Unscripted episode and a final ever episode in three weeks’ time. No previews were available, but we do know that the Unscripted episode consists of Peter and his co-star Sian Gibson, as will-they-won’t-they colleagues John and Kayleigh, improvising to whatever comes on the car radio. The two stars are long-time pals who know their characters inside out, so a funny (and possibly poignant) ride is guaranteed. Rating: *****
Tricks of the Restaurant Trade, 8.30pm, C4
Chef and presenter Simon Rimmer takes to the air this week to see what happens to our taste buds on a plane at 30,000 feet. He also discovers why a Bloody Mary is a popular in-flight drink – and it’s not because the alcohol calms the nerves. Sophie Morgan road-tests service station food, and finds out how the industry is trying to win back the increasing number of drivers who no longer stop off for a comfort break. And Adam Pearson explores the relatively new phenomenon of the food mash-up. First it was the cronut, a cross between a doughnut and a croissant. What’s the next food hybrid on the menu? Rating: ***
Horrible Histories, from 2.50pm, CBBC
The award-winning show is back with four new episodes and covers a series of events from history they don’t teach you at school. The first includes ‘Deadly Dynasties’, and has nothing to do with Joan Collins – more Napoleon’s needy sister, and why our own royal family changed its name to something a bit ‘less German’. Rating: ***
