Midsomer Murders, 8pm, ITV

The past collides with the future as DCI Barnaby and DS Winter return to solve more murders. When the body of a woman dressed in Georgian costume is found, a couple who run Jane Austen-themed weekends, James and Kitty Oswood (Samuel West and Claire Skinner) are questioned. Meanwhile, a local firm using drones comes under suspicion when a second body is discovered… Ex-Corrie star Susie Blake guests. Rating: ****

Burma with Simon Reeve, 9pm (times vary), BBC2

In the first part of his latest two-part travel documentary Simon Reeve reveals a beautiful country beginning to blossom in a new era. On one hand, life is improving for many in Burma (AKA Myanmar) now there’s a democratic government. On the other, the world was shocked last summer at the persecution of the stateless Muslim Rohingya people and their mass exodus from Burma into Bangladesh. Burma is a vast country with a complex history, yet Simon effectively presents a comprehensive picture of modern Burma’s beauty and optimism, and also its brutality and darkness. The country is the subject of another documentary this week: C4’s Myanmar’s Killing Fields (Mon, 10.20pm). Rating: ****

The A-Z of Chelsea Gardening, 6pm / BBC1 (BBC2 Wales)

What makes Chelsea the greatest flower show on Earth? Keen gardener Jennifer Saunders and Gardeners’ World presenter and Chelsea Gold medal-winning designer Adam Frost go behind the trellises of the popular event, which this year starts on 22 May, to unearth highlights of the past 105 years of Chelsea magic. Rating: ***
