TV Times top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Sunday 19th August

Eight Go Rallying, 9pm, BBC2

‘It was one of the scariest moments of my life!’ says former EastEnders star Martin Kemp after being rescued from the Mini Cooper that his wife Shirlie crashed in Thailand. Luckily they aren’t seriously injured, but they still have to drive more than 2,500 miles through Cambodia and Vietnam without satnav. As travelogues go, this four-part series following four famous pairs (who also include Great British Menu’s Andi Oliver and her daughter Miquita) in The Endurance Rally Association’s Road to Saigon is one of the most challenging. But it’s great viewing and the ‘discussions’ over directions are the perfect foil for some breathtaking scenery. Rating: *****

Fake or Fortune?, 9pm, BBC1

Fiona Bruce and Philip Mould head to la belle France to meet Bourdeaux resident Alain, who has two sketchbooks he believes contain the work of the teenage Toulouse-Lautrec. If they’re the real thing, they will be worth a cool million. But there’s a snag. An authentication committee in Paris has already given their verdict: ‘non’ (they’re the work of Lautrec’s tutor, not the man himself). Fiona and Philip try to prove them wrong. Rating: ****

Countryfile, 7pm, BBC1

It’s not often we see all the presenters in one place at once, but tonight the team are herded together for the annual Countryfile Live event at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. The grounds are open to the public for four days and packed full of arena shows, farm-animal demonstrations and wildlife zones. The presenters, including Anita Rani, Ellie Harrison and Adam Henson, will all be on hand to celebrate our fabulous countryside while visitors and viewers alike will get the chance to see just how the show is put together in a special interactive zone called The Countryfile Experience. Rating: ****
