Poldark, 9pm, BBC1

Tonight’s drama-packed episode starts with Ross and Demelza all loved-up in London – which, in the Poldark world, means disaster is about to strike at any second! And strike it does, when Ross’ new nemesis Monk Adderley takes a shine to Demelza at the Warleggans’ masked ball and ends up accosting her, resulting in Ross agreeing to a duel in order to defend his wife’s honour. As Monk and Ross face each other at dawn, shots ring out across London, but whose blood has been spilled? Meanwhile, a chance quip by Geoffrey Charles about Valentine’s similarity to Ross sends George into a paranoid spin, and Morwenna’s woes deepen… Rating: *****

Unforgotten, 9pm, ITV

The investigation into the murder of teenager Hayley Reid on New Year’s Eve 1999 gathers pace this week as DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) and DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) travel to the village of Middenham to meet Hayley’s parents and twin sister, Jessica (Bronagh Waugh). It’s not long before Cassie and Sunny make a breakthrough in the case when, following a police press conference, an old friend of Hayley comes forward. Does she have valuable information that could help the case? Meanwhile, a detective on the original investigation gives his views, and news soon reaches old friends James, Tim, Pete and Chris that police are on the hunt for Hayley’s killer… This is shaping up to be another great series! The Handmaid’s Tale, 9pm, C4

Our hearts broke for Nick last week when he saw how much Luke and June still love each other, but at least the news from Canada reignited June’s fighting spirit. Offred will need every ounce of strength she has, as she finally goes into labour, performing the horrifying birthing ceremony with Serena. With the threat of being kicked out of the house straight after the baby arrives, her future is uncertain, and we’re still wary of Eden, who is realising Nick has feelings for the handmaid. As we race towards the season finale, there’s heaps of drama and a brutal cliffhanger that will leave you counting the days till the next episode. Rating: *****

More previews tomorrow.
