The Durrells, 8pm, ITV

In need of some holiday sun? Then get your weekly fix of The Durrells – a burst of vitamin D from your TV set. Larry invites writer and avid nudist Henry Miller to stay, resulting in Margo’s eyes popping out on stalks like a cartoon character! Meanwhile, Leslie arrests Louisa’s former fiancé Sven, and Spiro devotes his full attention to going to seed. At least Aunt Hermione’s inheritance will soon be sorted, right? Maybe not… Bumbling second cousin Basil (Miles Jupp) makes a surprise visit to Corfu – he may be unfazed by Henry’s bum, but something is making him act a bit cagey… Rating: ****

The Woman in White, 9pm, BBC1

The Woman in White

Ooh, things are getting a bit murky now, as this superb thriller gathers pace. Poor Laura is dreading the prospect of marrying smarmy Sir Percival, because she and Walter have fallen hook, line and sinker for each other. But when Walter is unceremoniously dismissed from his post, it’s up to Marian to discover whether Sir Percival has something to hide and find out the truth about his involvement with Anne Catherick. Once the shrewd baronet has managed to convince everyone that he’s a man of honour and a gentleman, he is determined to proceed with the wedding. And he also seems very keen on enforcing a rather dodgy-sounding settlement concerning Laura’s fortune… Continues tomorrow. Rating: ****

Invitation to a Royal Wedding, 9pm, ITV

As excitement mounts over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, this documentary sees Sir Trevor McDonald and Julie Etchingham talking to those who designed dresses, baked cakes and made bouquets for royal weddings in the past. Elizabeth Emanuel, who with her then husband David created Princess Diana’s wedding dress, recalls how hard it was to keep the design a secret from the press. And florist David Longman, whose family have made bouquets for several royal brides, recounts how his father had to hastily make another floral garland for the then Princess Elizabeth after the original one got lost on her big day.
