Top of the Shop, 8pm, BBC2

Michelin-starred TV chef Tom Kerridge is a champion of the country’s food entrepreneurs – and what better way to encourage them than to host a 12-week competition to find the nation’s ‘best up-and-coming artisan’, with 28 contestants who make everything from pâté to chocolates. There will be seven categories, kicking off with preserves, pickles and spreads, with four producers selling their wares for two days in Tom’s shop in Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales. As well as winning over the locals, they must impress judges Nisha Katona and Alison Swan Parente in order to get a place in the final. Continues tomorrow. Rating: ****

Bored of the nine-to-five routine, Katie and Charlie are looking for adventure. But do this pair have what it takes to hand in their notice, leave everything they know behind and head off in search of their dream lifestyles? Katie, 35, works in an office in London. She’s giving it all up to work as a ranch hand in Mexico – despite not having ridden horses since she was a teenager. Meanwhile, Charlie, 25, works in a Brighton call centre. In search of fulfillment and happiness, Charlie moves to far away but beautiful Ullapool in Scotland to work as a salmon farmer. But is swapping the office for their dream job everything it’s cracked up to be? Rating: ***
