TV Times top picks for tonight
What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Tuesday 25th September
Queen of the World, 9.15pm, ITV
This two-part documentary explores the Queen’s relationship with her ‘family of nations’ and the impact she has had across the world. As well as looking back on some of Her Majesty’s most memorable trips, with the help of her private home movies, it also goes behind the scenes at key royal moments, from the Queen recording her Christmas message to the Commonwealth, to Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall’s 2017 Canadian tour. Meanwhile, as world leaders discuss how important the monarchy is across the globe, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, reveal how they are continuing her legacy. Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild, 9.15pm, Channel 5
Ben Fogle returns to meet a new bunch of people who have given up the rat race for a more back-to-basics lifestyle. First up is self-confessed ‘super-eccentric nut’ Robert Runyan, who dropped out of medical school and modern life in the 1960s, and moved to the wilds of Arkansas. Now nearly 70, he leads a solitary life in a cabin he still hasn’t finished building after 40 years, with the forest providing most of his needs, including his toilet. Ben is in awe of Robert, who despite recently losing the sight in his right eye, is still handy with a chainsaw and hammer. A moving tale of determination and drive.
Wanderlust, 9pm, BBC1
Introducing your spouse to your lover is never easy, but Joy and Alan manage to pull it off in style this week when they arrange a night out with Claire and Marc. But things start to unravel when the deputy head of Alan’s school hears news of his extra-curricular activities and Lawrence steals a kiss from Joy. Life is also becoming interesting for the couple’s kids, especially Tom and Naomi, who seem to have finally realised the perfect girl is closer than they think. Rating: ****
