What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight three of the best shows on telly tonight for Monday 16th October including the finale of Liar...

Liar, 9.00pm, ITV

In this climax to the brilliantly torrid but deeply disquieting thriller, tensions build to an explosive conclusion. As Andrew turns to his son to help him evade the law, Laura tries to rebuild her life but makes one last bid to make Andrew pay when she discovers that he is dating again. But when smug Andrew starts to believe he has got away with his terrible crimes, can Laura get conclusive proof to nail her rapist? Rating: *****

Supergirl, 8.00pm, Sky One

Supergirl series 3

It’s a dream week for comic-book fans, with the return of not one but four new superhero series. First, season three of Supergirl sees our heroine (Melissa Benoist) face a new foe in the form of high-tech assassin Robert DuBois (aka Bloodsport). As series four of The Flash begins (Tuesday), Barry is brought out of the Speed Force a different man, while the return of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (Wednesday) sees our heroes in trouble. On Thursday, fans of Arrow find out who has survived the epic cliffhanger at the end of the last series. Rating: ****

George Michael: Freedom, 9.00pm, C4

George Michael: Freedom

This excellent retrospective of the late singer-songwriter’s career, co-directed by George himself, includes contributions from musicians he collaborated with and interviews with celebrity fans including Ricky Gervais, who wryly recalls how Wham!’s Club Tropicana reassured us that: "Don’t worry, you can sun tan"! There’s a lot on George’s legal battle with his record label and on the loss of his Brazilian partner, Anselmo, to AIDS. Most of all, though, it’s a celebration of a prodigiously talented musician who could hold his own performing with the likes of Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. The 2008 concert George Michael: Live in London follows at 10.50pm. Rating: *****
