Vernon Kay has apparently been offered the chance to star alongside Ricky Gervais in the final episode of Extras. The Family Fortunes host is said to be joining big name stars including John Travolta and George Michael for the finale of the BBC One comedy show, according to reports in The Sun. A friend said the presenter was shocked to get the call from funnyman Ricky. The source told the paper: "It took 10 minutes to persuade Vernon that it wasn't a wind-up." Vernon has been at the centre of a number of gags in the series, where Ricky's character Andy Millman and his partner Maggie, played by Ashley Jensen, make jokes about him. The episode is said to feature a scene in which hunky Vernon will be dining at posh restaurant The Ivy when he is spotted by the pair. The special will be shown at Christmas.
