Vintage gems unearthed in The British Film Collection

The British Film Collection April Releases

If you love vintage British films, then you should check out Network’s The British Film Collection, a vast array of classic from the golden age of UK cinema which all boast new transfers in the correct cinema aspect ratio and include some 450 titles from the StudioCanal archives.

April will see the release of the first volume of Ealing Studio rarities (Escape! West of Zanzibar, Penny Paradise and Cheer Up!), the Frankie Howerd comedy The House in Nightmare Park, Edgar Wallace’s Flying 55, raunchy comedy Spanish Fly starring Terry-Thomas and Leslie Philips, sexually-charged 1970s film Man at the Top with Nanette Newman, and the Sean Connery comedy On the Fiddle.

The British Film Collection May Releases

In May, Midshipman Easy, Brief Ecstasy, The Big Blockade and The Four Just Men make up the second volume of The Ealing Studios Rarities Collection, while the sex comedies The Lovers, starring Richard Beckinsale and Paula Wilcox, and Keep it Up Downstairs, with Diana Dors, will put a smile on your face. Plus, there's the hilarious King Kong rip-off Konga starring B-movie legend Michael Gough.

The British Film Collection June Releases

In June, Michael Gough’s chiller classic Horrors of the Black Museum gets released, along with the sci-fi Devil Girl from Mars, a third volume of Ealing Studio rarities (Cage of Gold, Death Drives Through, The Impassive Footman, Frieda) and the Edgar Wallace mystery The Terror. There’s also two stunning Blu-ray releases to look out for – the bank crime caper Perfect Friday starring Stanley Baker and Basil Dearden’s psychological thriller The Man Who Haunted Himself with Roger Moore.
