Our hearts go out to the residents of Nonnatus House this week. They are fearing for one of their own as Barbara fights for her life in hospital after being diagnosed with meningitis. While Tom is desperate to stay by her side, Phyllis is bustling around re-organising rotas and supporting Tom while trying to keep a lid on her own worries. Meanwhile, homesick Lucille makes some new friends, and Dr Turner has a tough case on his hands when, at a local reform school, he comes into contact with a troubled teenage car thief who is being kept apart from his pregnant young wife. Strike, 9.00pm, BBC1

Strike

As Strike and Robin’s grisly case draws to a close, there are more suspects than you could shake a stick at and Strike’s business, as well as his and Robin’s lives, is under threat. While the police have questions to ask of Strike, the shabby ’tec is still trying to decide which of the folk from his past could be the killer. Meanwhile, Robin’s wedding to Matthew remains up in the air with the bride-to-be more interested in the investigation. Even after Matthew receives a sinister message to rival last week’s severed leg delivery, she places herself at huge risk to get to the truth… Hurry up and write the fourth Strike novel, Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling) – we need another series! Rating: ****

Hold the Sunset, 7.30pm, BBC1

Edith is exasperated. Cleaner Queenie is just making a mess, Roger’s proving a pain and the dream of escaping to the sun with Phil is slipping away. Still, a holiday might help, and the pair start planning a little break. But there’s trouble brewing, as meddlesome Queenie tries a spot of marriage counselling on Roger and Wendy… Rating: ****
